Reseña

The story “Angelita’s Birth” narrates the ancestral practices of traditional
medicine, beginning at conception, the care of the woman during
pregnancy, the moment of birth, and the burial of the placenta, actions
that are part of a millennial tradition.
The role of the midwife is almost as old as life itself. These women are the
ones who assist and guide pregnant women in the occasion of welcoming
their child. Midwives provide the teachings, ways of thinking, and customs
that were historically inherited from the knowledge of their grandparents
and their own parents.
With this story we want to emphasize the practices linked to the
preservation of customs, beliefs, and cultural traditions, which represent
the fundamental pillars of ancestral knowledge and the andean
worldview
