Birds of paradise and other fantastic creatures
Whether it is the 1918 Spanish flue pandemic, a gulag in Siberia or the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the world is full of fantastic creatures brought to life in this collection by the author. The eleven stories take the reader across the globe: from the Christmas chill of the Baltic Sea coast to the Australian bushfires, from the pre-revolution Ekaterinburg where we accompany the Tsar and his family in their last days to the Strait of Magellan, running along the brave and swift Selk´nam who hunt guanacos for meat and fur. But wherever the plot takes us, we will laugh and cry and become as much a part of each story as if we were the protagonists.
