Reseña

Obesity and overweight have become a global problem associated with transformations of the food system, lifestyles and food patterns. APEC Economies represent 3,6% of the global population; this means at least 2.879.323.584 persons in 21 economies. Of these, the labour population reach 1.540.320.242 persons (World Bank, 2019). Looking to tackle this syndemic issue, in February of 2019, during the Chilean APEC year the Chilean government prepared a proposal of Self-Funded Project (Project No. HWG 01 2019S). The Project had the aim to has a “Workshop on Prevention and Promotion Policies for Obesity” and proposing the creation of subgroup devoted to analyse the Child obesity within APEC Economies. This proposal was submitted to the members of the Health Working Group (HWG) who have endorsed it. The project started in February of 2019 with the Workshop on Policies Against Child Obesity, which was held on the sidelines of the first APEC HWG meeting on February 27, 2019, in Santiago de Chile (SOM 1).
