La presente obra pretende analizar los saberes tradicionales en torno a la etnoclimatología de las y los habitantes del archipiélago de Chiloé, Región de Los Lagos; específicamente aquellos que habitan el grupo de islas Chaulinec, pertenecientes a la comuna de Quinchao. Este grupo de islas compone un espacio que es la fuente de trabajo para comunidades costeras rurales, idóneas para estudiar la relación íntima de los sujetos y el medioambiente y por ende el desarrollo del conocimiento etnoclimático.

En el transcurso de los capítulos se destacan las prácticas y dinámicas basadas en este saber pues se relaciona con la representación y construcción del mundo según la propia comunidad. Se profundiza en cómo este conocimiento se mantiene, traspasa y transforma en el tiempo. Se vincula el conocimiento vernáculo con el conocimiento científico.

Finalmente se propone el reconocimiento de este saber etnoclimático a modo de patrimonialización de los saberes populares, sirviendo como salvataje para evitar la pérdida de estas prácticas en la ruralidad.


This study work aims to analyze the traditional knowledge about ethnoclimatology of the inhabitants of the Chiloé archipelago which administratively depends on Los Lagos Region; they are specifically people who inhabit the Chaulinec group of islands, belonging to the commune of Quinchao. This group of islands consists of a space that is the source of employment for rural coastal communities, ideal for studying the intimate relationship between individuals and the environment and therefore the development of ethno-climatic knowledge.

In the course of the chapters, practices and dynamics based on this particular knowledge are highlighted, as it is related to the representation and construction of the world according to the community itself. We delve into how this knowledge is maintained, transferred and transformed over time. Vernacular knowledge is linked to scientific knowledge.

Finally, the recognition of this particular ethnoclimatic knowledge is proposed as a way of patrimonialization of popular knowledge, serving as safeguarding to prevent the loss of these practices in rural areas.
